Halloween 2012

Kyler went as Jango Fett from Star Wars this year.  The day started out with a parade downtown and then back to school for a class party.  We enjoyed the beautiful evening trick or treating with some close friends.  You will notice that Madeline is missing in the pictures.  She decided that this year she wanted to stay home and pass out candy and watch scary movies with dad.  

First Day of School

This was a very special first day of school. Kyler began Kindergarten and Madeline started middle school. Kyler was so excited to start school. He walked in with so much confidence and not a worry in the world when mom and dad left. He really likes his teacher and spoke endlessly of all the great things he did. Madeline was excited but nervous about starting middle school. She was probably more worried about being in the same building as mom! She was able to manage her locker and get to all her classes with her materials and on time. She chose to take band and will be playing the saxophone. That means many hours of practice at home. We anticipate many adventures this year with both of them.

Softball

Madeline moved up to C-team softball. She did not play a particular position, but rotated around. Her favorite spot was 1st base. The season started out well as her first time up to bat she hit the ball. The season concluded with a league tournament in which her team did not place, but played some very good games.

Omaha Zoo

We took the kids to the Omaha Zoo one weekend. Even though it was hot outside the kids were real troopers and we covered most of the zoo, skipping only the petting zoo and playground! Madeline's favorite exhibit was the aquarium with the sharks. Kyler liked all the monkeys and seeing the baby animals.

Bible School 2012

The theme for Vacation Bible School was Sky. This year Madeline served as a leader for the 2nd and 3rd grade class. She enjoyed taking her kids around to all the fun activities throughout the week. Kyler moved up to the Kindergarten group. His favorite part of the week was singing the songs. The week concluded with a program during church. Kyler sang his heart out for the congregation!

Golf

Both kids are taking golf lessons this year. They also participated in the local tournament. Madeline placed 3rd in her division and Kyler received a participation medal. He was happy to complete all nine holes!

Machine Pitch

Kyler began machine pitch baseball this year. He had a blast hitting the ball from the machine. He also improved on the field. Travis helped coach the team so the boys spent some quality time together.

Dance Recital

Madeline completed her 8th year of dance this year. She once again danced a solo for the recital. She danced to Taylor Swift's White Horse. She has grown quite a bit in her dancing.

5th Grade Promotion

Madeline completed her final year of elementary school and will be moving up to the middle school next year. The year ended with a promotion ceremony.

Here Comes The Bride

Kyler was asked by Michelle's cousin, Lishe, to be the ring bearer in her wedding. He was happy to accept this very important position. He looked very handsome in his tuxedo and did his job very well. Madeline handed out programs and bubbles. The kids had a wonderful time helping with the wedding and dancing the night away at the reception!

Track

Kyler and Madeline decided this year that they wanted to participate in youth track. We went to three youth meets in the area. Madeline did the long jump, hurdles, 200 meter dash and 400 meter dash. Kyler did the long jump, softball throw, 25 meter dash and 50 meter dash. Both showed improvements in the meets and brought home several ribbons and medals. Madeline's season highlight was beating two boys in the hurdles at one meet!!! Kyler just enjoyed every minute of it and always had a smile on his face when he was competing.
