Year in Review - 2017

Family:
Travis and Michelle are still teaching at Chapman Middle School.  Travis is coaching high school wrestling and middle school football.  Michelle is coaching high school track.  This summer we spent some time in Branson with Travis's parents and brother's family.  It was a relaxing week. 

Madeline:

Madeline is a junior in high school.  During her sophomore track season, her 4x800 team qualified for the state track meet and placed 8th.  She also ran the 3200M and placed in several track meets.  This year she did well in cross country.  There were enough girls to make a team (five are needed) and what a team they were.  They won many regular season meets, were league champions and Regional runners-up.  She ran a season PR at the state meet on a difficult course.  She decided not to participate in basketball this year.  Instead she is trying her hand at Scholar's Bowl, which she made the varsity team.  She is also in FBLA and will be competing next semester in several competitions.  In Forensics she qualified for state for IDA (Impromptu Duet Acting) and will be competing again this school year.  She was a solicitor in the school musical of "A Christmas Carol".  She continues with dance lessons and this year has added pointe ballet. 

Kyler:

Kyler is in 5th grade and continues a very active life.  In the spring he played 3-on-3 soccer.  His team was the undefeated league champions.  During the summer he played his first season of kid pitch baseball ending with a 3rd place finish in the league tournament.  He played tackle football in the fall and is starting basketball. 

 

Seussical

Madeline played the role of a Bird Girl in the school production of Seussical the Musical.  It was quite a production.

Cross Country 2016

Madeline had a great sophomore year in cross country.  She brought home several medals and ran her personal best at the Regional meet.

First Day of School 2016

Madeline is now a sophomore in high school and Kyler is in 4th grade.  Madeline is excited that this year she is driving to school!

Summer Track 2016

Madeline ran again this summer with the Kansas Flyers.  She ran the 4x800 and the 3000M.  We traveled to Sacramento, California for Nationals.  Along with the meet we also enjoyed some time sightseeing in San Francisco.

Summer Baseball 2016

Kyler played on a league machine-pitch team this summer.  He really progressed throughout the season, even hitting a few home runs!  Most of the time he played first base and loved that position. His team placed second in the league tournament.

Summer Vacation 2016

At the start of the summer we took a family vacation to Niagara Falls, Toronto, Canada and Chicago.  We decided to drive the route.  We saw some beautiful scenery and enjoyed the time together.

Recital

Madeline completed her 12th year of dance.  She performed a solo in the recital.  

Forensics

Madeline participated in forensics this year in high school.  She qualified for state with her original oration.  This is quite an accomplishment for a freshman!

Spring Baseball 2016

Kyler played on a machine-pitch tournament team this spring.  He played left field and improved his batting throughout the season.  The highlight of the season was getting first at a tournament in Salina.

Track 2016

Madeline had a good track season in high school.  She continued to run the 3200M and was on the 4x800 and 4x400 relays.  She ended her season with 6th place finish in the 3200M at Regionals.

Basketball 2015

Kyler decided he wanted to try basketball this year.  He played on a 3rd grade team and absolutely enjoyed every minute of it.  

Madeline played on the Freshmen and JV teams in high school.  She suffered a shoulder injury mid-season and was out for about 4 weeks.
