Wrestling

Kyler began kids federation wrestling this year. He loved every minute of it. He wrestled in the 6 and under, 46 pounds division. He participated in three tournaments and placed 3rd at Minneapolis and 2nd at Chapman. Win or lose he was always smiling on the mat. Travis helped coach him and enjoyed being back in the sport.

Spelling Bee

Madeline won her class spelling bee and attended the county spelling bee for grades 5-8. Although she was eliminated in the second round, she was really excited for the experience. We practiced spelling words for several days prior to the competition.

Kyler's 5th Birthday

Kyler celebrated his 5th birthday with an "all boy" party. Mom and sister were almost not invited. He wanted a Star Wars birthday but only wanted Darth Vader and Stormtroopers on his cake. He actually had two cakes, one for his party and one from Grammy just for him. He had a good day and said now that he is five he is ready for Kindergarten!

Monster Jam 3

Travis and Kyler made a third annual trip to Monster Jam. Kyler was excited to get his Raminator shirt signed by the driver Mark Hall. Of course, he seems to always come home with a unique hat for a souvenir.

Christmas 2011

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. We spent time with family, enjoyed beautiful weather for traveling, and the kids seemed to get many of the gifts on their Christmas lists. The Elliott's are looking forward to a joyous 2012.


Madeline got the entire set of Harry Potter books.

KU Basketball Camp

Madeline attended a basketball camp hosted by the KU men's basketball team over the break. Unfortunately her favorite player, Conner Teahan, was unable to attend due to sickness, but she enjoyed learning some skills from the other players. At the end of the camp there was an autograph session with all the players and coaches. Madeline liked all the players but really took a liking to assistant coaches Townsend and Dooley. Kyler was able to slip in and get pictures with his favorite players as well.

Most of her instruction came from assistant coach Townsend. She really enjoyed him.

Packers Game

For his birthday we got Travis two tickets to the Green Bay Packers game at Kansas City. Kyler and him enjoyed a beautiful day in December for the game. Unfortunately the Packers' perfect season came to an end at the hands of the Chiefs, but the boys really enjoyed seeing their favorite team in action.
